Learning from his grandparents, Anthony wanted to understand everything: his grandfathers knowledge of citrus and floral farming in the valleys of Southern California, his grandmothers daily rituals for artesinial baking, and collectively, their passion for seamless and beautiful entertaining. Their home, seated in the midst of a citrus valley and across from a catholic church, brought in an abundance of friends, great conversations, and delicious home grown food to be shared.

Recognizing he had less time to soak up his true heritage, Anthony transferred universities his junior year to be closer to his grandparents. Spending weekends and afternoons for lunch with his grandparents, he learned more about traditional cooking techniques, eating within season, small-scale farming, how throw together simple salads from items in the garden, and how to entertain beautifully.

Anthony’s work is inspired by the rituals of daily living, nature, and generational craftsmanship. His grandmother was a farm girl, horse rider, former swimsuit seamstress in Los Angeles, and true domesticate. Her effortless way of setting a table for 30 at any given time was truly a sight to see. He loves sitting with her to learn about her life and techniques for any given occasion.

“A culinary student would come by on Sundays, and ask my grandfather for lemons and advice. He was eager to perfect his skills and learn of my grandfather knowledge. I had no idea my grandparents grew seven different types of lemons - and the fact that my grandfather could explain each in great detail was astonishing.”
